12-12-12

Sharing from The Scrapbook Princess
Tomorrow is 12/12/12. Even if tomorrow is "just another day", I encourage you to document it in photos and then make a scrapbook page using your favorite papers and embellishments! There will not be another triple day in our lifetimes--it would be fun to keep a record of it!!! =)

It has been awhile since I have been crafty or even blogged,
Gary is finally better I think, this surgery for Prostrate Cancer was more than we expected.  He is feeling better and starting to become active , although I may be pushing it a bit, seems it may be so easy to just take pain pills  and wish the pain away , but that was not working. The past week we go out everyday ,  I have planned my shopping list around it, we go to the store  and get done in time to pick up granddaughter from preschool, everyday a little more.
I know he is feeling better he loaded the dishwasher tonite!

Hugs,
Kathy

 Happy
Thanksgiving!

May you and yours have a happy and safe holiday weekend !

We are having a small day at home (we ordered Cracker Barrell dinner , just thankful for the past few weeks and hopefully moving past the worst of this surgery. Gary is recovering slowly with a few kinks along the way.
This year the older kids have plans , especially my oldest son - he is providing a FREE meal with his food truck  The Rolling Pig, to about 150 people in the Cleveland Ohio area,  it makes us proud to know that even though he is struggling to get his business going he knows the importance of giving back, my granddaughters are excited about helping!

Thank you to all my friends that have called, messaged , in the past few weeks, I am Thankful to have great family and friends to help!

Have a great day!
Kathy

THANKSGIVING TABLE PRAYER
O Gracious God, we give you thanks for your overflowing generosity to us. Thank you for the blessings of the food we eat and especially for this feast today. Thank you for our home and family and friends, especially for the presence of those gathered here. Thank you for our health, our work and our play. Please send help to those who are hungry, alone, sick and suffering war and violence. Open our hearts to your love. We ask your blessing through Christ your son. Amen.

Yes I know it is October and we are in full swing Breast Cancer Awareness-- but I am  going to share some information about Prostrate Cancer with you-- I went with my husband to the urologist on Wednesday as we were discussing his options for his surgery  I asked his Dr. why Prostrate Cancer is as not talked about, he said .... Men don't share like women , they don't want to discuss it or the side effects.
So if you have a father, husband or son over the age of fifty they need to ask for a PSA test,  Gary's test was a routine -oh your fifty we need to check your PSA , if you have a father that has had prostrate cancer you need to be tested at 45-
Gary's cancer both of them have been found because he had tests- his Kidney cancer was found in a scan from his gallbladder,  this cancer was found in a follow-up after his kidney surgery-
This surgery sounds scary , but we are hopeful and positive that it has been caught before spreading to any other organs.
I am taking each day as it comes lately, staying busy and enjoying doing nothing!  A little crafting here and there, spending time sitting on the porch, planning what we are going to do when surgery is over and hopefully life returns to normal.

I'll be back blogging soon, until then keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

Kathy

Here  is some info : Other than skin cancer, prostate cancer is the most common cancer in American men. The latest American Cancer Society estimates for prostate cancer in the United States are for 2012:
  • About 241,740 new cases of prostate cancer will be diagnosed
  • About 28,170 men will die of prostate cancer
About 1 man in 6 will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime.
Prostate cancer occurs mainly in older men. Nearly two thirds are diagnosed in men aged 65 or older, and it is rare before age 40. The average age at the time of diagnosis is about 67.
Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in American men, behind only lung cancer. About 1 man in 36 will die of prostate cancer.
Prostate cancer can be a serious disease, but most men diagnosed with prostate cancer do not die from it. In fact, more than 2.5 million men in the United States who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer at some point are still alive today.

 I'm Back!
Hoping to start getting back to crafting and blogging again, and of course I am looking for a job these days-
I have to find something to do at least part time.
Gary is doing great after his surgery last week, he had a partial Kidney removal last Tuesday,  Kidney Cancer is why they did it - they found 2 spots a few months ago when he had his gallbladder removed  durning a CT scan -  it is the only way Kidney cancer is found early through a test  for another problem --so far everything is looking good!

I received some Crafty mail from a few people last week - was so excited to see some crafty mail!
The Top one is from my friend Judy Hardwick!  It was adressed Pay it Forward.... I have a person on my list for mine .... hoping to do a good deed this week!

The second is from Donna Salzaar , I won it from her Tuesday evening classes online!
So I hope the summer is treating you great! It is HOT here , and raining every afternoon so my flowers are happy!
Watch for a Momenta Post this week!

Thanks for stopping by!

A clean desk?

Its been a long time since I posted! I have a clean desk (not for long) , started loading my scraprack!
I think I am finally unpacked since closing Scrapin Kats!
I have sorted and labeled all my paper boxes, purged about 1/2 of my paper stash!
I am excited to start scrapping again!

Its been a crazy few months here-- but July is here already! And it is SO HOT!
the last week the fires in Colorado have been scary for our friends there-  the area our house is in was evacuated as a precaution but as of today all calm there,
I am happy to say we are in Alabama during all this!

So hopefully we will get through the next few weeks and be able to move forward again!

Another Momenta Layout

Its April and pretty soon we'll be seeing graduation plans, I found this picture of my son the other day sorting, I feel so bad he graduated FOUR years ago , and sadly I have not done any thing with his pictures.
This is from the Graduation kit from Momenta --
I used a 12x12 piece of white cardstock,
I trimmed the star paper 11x11,
Cut a piece of the word paper 4x12
Cut a 1x12 piece of cardstock for his name , added a few of the chipboard embelliments that are in the kit! I think it came together so easy! Everything was in this kit except the cardstock.
I love kits everything you need- all matching! It just makes it easy to scrapbook! I hope to use the rest of this kit for a few more pages for his book.
My picture looks so good - I have been practicing with my camera and reading about how to use it and editing photos lately.
Thanks for visiting!

Mixing it up....

My Art

Emma's Art

So I decided to take a break from my cleaning and paint. I actually was inspired by Emma!
We had to go shopping for her some new paint Saturday, she loves any thing crafty these days! Sometimes even a four year old can inspire you!

Sometimes we just need to let go and not worry about the outcome -- I have so many things going on in my life these days I am overwhemed -- SO I just  have to have faith and know we be taken care of and hope for the best.
Crafting is a great therapy - no rules - just do something you like - something different!
Have a great week!

Hi Friend...

Hi Friends,
Hopping by with a little Spring card --made from my Momenta products for the Dlite team ...
It has been so Spring like here in Alabama - cool & windy days , sunny and bright!
We had a great weekend here just in time to work on a water leak!
I just love this little bunny from Tim Holtz Alerations movers and Shapers line...  I love my vagabond now that I have started using it. I am sure we will be seeing it often in the next few weeks!
I used the sunny paper, and a piece of patterned speciality paper in the mini card stock mats, the base card from my stash , and a Hi Friend stamp from my Amuse stamp collection,
I have quite a collection of stash- starting to actually find things since I have sorted and labeled my world.
I cut the green on the paper to look like grass and the bunny's are scraps of brown coordination's paper.

Happy Valentine's Day

Just let it snow!

I laughed out loud tonite as I walked though Walgreen watching men trying to pick out that perfect card!
I decided we would skip the cards, chocolate and flowers this year ... live life- you know adventure a little?
So in a late nite internet search to buy bargain tickets to take hubby Dog Sledding...
yes in the cold?
I was determined I was just going to watch... well we all know how that turned out I sure did watch from the basket!
It was a blast , just check it off my bucket list!

Scrapping Again- Pretty Girl!

I think I gave up on the organizing for now , I have 15 verticals sorted and the 16 12x12 boxes labeled by brand! Oh so much paper - too little time!
I am going to get back to scrapbooking some layouts and do a few challenges this month!
I did this one for the Authentique challenge this month! It is Emma from her Thanksgiving photo's , first time I have done a black & white in a long time!
I think I like it!
I used Authentique Orginal, Uncommon, and Special, , I cut the tag apart from the matching embellishment for Pretty Girl, used a Prima flower and some little bling flower from my stash.

Quote from paper line...

Good Intentions

I always start off the New year with all these great intentions.... somehow they seem to get lost about January 13th... I can't believe it is February already? It is so warm with no sight of winter...I really need a nice snow and cup of hot chocolate soon, maybe I need to go find it?
I have made lots of progress in my scrap room , finished several projects, and made a list of I wants from CHA, still working on Pay it forward 5 , might be finished by the weekend.
Waiting on my box of goodies from Momenta , working on a couple of challenges for the month, sorting some photos so I feel pretty productive after all!
My goal for February -- , make a few valentines , finish my room, and get back to scrap booking a page a day?

Random Thoughts **** Photochic & Lin C ****

1. Yes that is my New Weather Radio - after watching the news and hearing a story about it saving a man and his family I said "we need this" after all I spend a crazy amount of $$$ on stuff- so I bought 2 one for my house and 1 for Heather's House (they live in Grandma's house up my our driveway) This last Sunday storms tore up an area about a hour south of us! I stayed up all night the "storm watcher", crazy I know this is only January , today still in high 60's --
Mother Nature wake up... I think you may be a bit confused?

2. Photochic & Lin C please email me your mailing info I am sending you some Scraps! I know you both read my posts! You both were the only one to comment! Thanks

3. I think I may be a Bit (or maybe alot) OCD or ADD -- I can NOT focus .... I am still sorting and losing items ... this selling online has me in complete confusion -- I have decided to make a mailing center(out of the bedroom) -- I have been selling lots of things on FB (crazy of all places but that's OK recouping a Lil cash from boxes of great items from store)
Luckily I have found 3 of the 4 missing items this month! My glasses were in the same place on dresser the whole time~

4. I am actually on No.2 of my 5 Pay it Forward....
Not posting till I am done with 5!

5. My list is not as long for CHA as I expected -- as I sort I think Why?
I would only use it once!
(maybe a friend will buy I can use it? As for Dies Lot's of folks cutting and selling on Etsy Chipboard items.

I ordered my supplies for D-Lite today ( they let us pick oh so hard for me) so excited to see what the mail brings and to do some layouts for them I have pulled pictures already.

So have I bored you yet?
Leave me a comment for a chance to win! More Scraps of course!

Be Safe and think about the weather radio if you don't have one!

Thanks,

Almost there!

I bought this cabinet last year , finally have sorted and labeled all my stuff- I call it my Tim stash!

I have cute little bins (about 18) I had 13 from my years as a daycare provider that I repurposed.
I hope that next week I will be able to sort all my paper in categories by season, lots are already sorted (when I had the store I would bring home bags and than they each went into a clear 12x12 box with the thought of a project to do!
I am going to try to get rid of half ? oh me ....
I am doing a card class for Valentine's Day with some kits I never sold at a local retirement community, and I am going to do a journal class at a local paint shop , email if you are interested and I will get you a date and price.
I am working on my Pay it Forward -- 5 people -different Homemade items -- 3- I never met....
I have only made it to one painting class, hopefully Thursday -- also having lunch - crafting with few of Tim's fans this week... Do you have friends that craft different?
Home for a few weeks , have plans to declutter but somehow I just make more piles...
BTW I have made a DESIGN Team ... more on that soon... hopefully it will inspire me to do a little more! I also took my new Mini printer out of Box - soon it will have a Home in my room --
Do you like scraps ? Leave a comment for a chance to WIN mine! It was amazing to see what all I have saved this year!
Have a great Week and USE your Stash!

How did I make that book?

This is this month's kit ....

I made it 12 pages plus the covers -

I have had several Newbies ask "How Did you make that" if you are new to the Scrap world or making mini albums "FEAR NOT" it is so easy!
First I cut my paper for the covers they are 4x6 covers from zutter - so you can decide which you want to be the cover!
Remember "There are no Rules.. you decide ....
Next I cut 4 sheets in to strips - each sheet will give you 3 - 4in pieces
3x4= 12 pages
Next I cut the 12 strips into 9 in pieces
Then I score them at 6in folding the 3in score
the 3 in pieces I cut off I inked with Chestnut ink
I used them as background for mini photo mats
Inside the folded section - I used some cardstock to make my 12 thoughts for next year-
Next I punched wholes with the Bind it all -
if you don't have a BIA - you could punch two holes and add rings or ribbon.
Next embellish and have fun!

There are a few kits left for this month if you want to order! This would also make a Beautiful Valentine's book - especially with the rose paper as your cover!

I am traveling with Hubby this week- he works I adventure, we have dinner and it is really nice to be able spend time doing what ever these days! It is the best part of NOT owning the store anymore.

I have painted a $1 notebook - waiting to see what happens- did a shopping trip to Gigi's found some great journal cards! Stopped at Hl and found some zutter pages really cheap .71 wow - I am really enjoying the Bind-it-all - I bought it two years ago!
Tomorrow I have 2 stores I hope to visit -- just hope there is NOT a big bridge ...I hate to drive over bridges -- LOL not good near the Gulf!
Have a great week,
Kathy

Thanks for visiting our hop- the day was a wonderful!... there were some glitches but I have learned a few NEW things about planning a hop!
SO if you ever plan one here are few tips!

1. Post early in am
2. Check everyones link before I leave ( we took a adventure to Archivers)
3. Make sure folks add a link to all blogs in thier post also in case someone doesn't post and leave you hanging or jumping back and forth... so you can hop on....
4. Remind the people who are posting and suggest they only post for ONE group at a time - kinda frustrating to folks when they have to click to find the hop they are looking for!
So I hope you saw some great tips along the way!

BTW the winner is my Test -- LOL
So Carolyn I will have a prize for you when I see you since you my first post!
